Howard Employment Law Welcomes New Partner Sebastian Chern and Changes Name
Effective June 1, Sebastian Chern, longtime Associate at Howard Employment Law (HEL), will join founder Geoff Howard as a partner/shareholder and the firm will be changing its name to Howard Chern Employment Law Corporation (HCEL). Geoff is delighted to recognize Sebastian’s development over their almost 6 years of working together through this milestone.

Sebastian brings almost 8 years of experience in employment law to his role as “partner”. He advises and represents HEL clients and has grown his own client base, including a number of local employers, and expertise, including experience in labour law. Sebastian is a highly regarded member of the Vancouver Employment Law Bar, regularly presenting at the annual Employment Law CLE Conference, contributing to HR-related publications, and was a contributing author of LexisNexis’ Workers’ Compensation in British Columbia. He is a key Board member and Executive of the Federation of Asian Lawyers of Canada (British Columbia) Society, one of Canada’s largest legal associations and equity seeking organizations. We are very lucky to have him join us as a partner.

Howard Chern is an employment and labour boutique firm based in Vancouver founded by Geoff Howard in 2020. It primarily advises employers on the full life cycle of the employment relationship. This runs from the drafting of Employment Agreements, through implementing policies, advising on performance management, workplace misconduct and investigations, through planning and representing employers in termination and post-termination disputes. Howard Chern’s clients range from small and local to large multi-nationals, including advising multi-provincial and national employers on issues and policies across Canada. We are also proud to represent employees in a wide variety of industries.
