Justin is an Associate with Howard Chern Employment Law. Justin centres his practise around his clients, helping employers and employees by providing practical and efficient solutions to legal issues, from the straightforward to the more complex.
Prior to joining Howard Chern Employment Law, Justin practised in the litigation department at a boutique law firm in downtown Vancouver, where he assisted his clients across a broad range of legal matters, including employment, real estate, intellectual property, defamation, residential tenancy, corporate and commercial litigation. He has represented clients in a variety of courts and tribunals, including the Supreme Court of British Columbia, the Provincial Court of British Columbia, the Residential Tenancy Branch and the Employment Standards Branch.
Justin is an advocate for diversity and justice. He served as an executive for the UVic Law School Pan-Asian Association and is an active member of the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers (British Columbia) Society.
Outside of the office, Justin enjoys playing basketball, drums, and guitar, as well as spending time with friends over a long board game.

Recent Cases of Note
- Stephenson v. Bodashefsky, 2025 BCSC 697 – Justin assisted a tenant under a residential tenancy and rent-to-own agreement with striking a claim against her seeking to void both agreements, on the basis of jurisdiction.
- Sabaghchian v. Taghiakbari, 2024 BCSC 327 – This ruling clarified the case law with respect to the legal test for allowing counterclaims filed outside of statutory limitations to proceed.
