Ben Parkin Appointed Alternate Chair of the BC Review Board

It is with mixed feelings that we announce that our Associate Counsel, Ben Parkin, has been appointed as an Alternate Chair of the BC Review Board. The Board holds hearings for persons either found “Not Criminally Responsible by reason of Mental Disorder” or who have been held “Unfit (Mentally) to Stand Trial” by the courts. The Board determines whether they should be detained in custody, discharged conditionally into the community or simply released. We are proud that he has been honoured with this appointment.

With the expected volume of cases at the Board, as well as his adjudication work for the BC Health Professions Review Board, Ben has to end his Associate Counsel role with Howard Chern. We wish him all the best in his new role.
